Alaska Part IV - Exit Glacier and Moose

Before departing Seward and making our way back to Anchorage for our return flight we stopped at Exit Glacier. It is one of many glaciers that come together at the Harding Ice Field. You can hike up to it but it takes all day and after fishing all day the day before we weren't too motivated to do it. So we did the easy hike to the toe of the glacier.

Afterwards we made our way back to Anchorage. On the way we were diligently looking for moose. After all that was our last chance to see them and we hadn't seen any yet! I was beginning to think that moose and bear don't exist and that it is just a ploy to get tourists to come visit!
I don't know how long we were driving for when Jim yelled "moose!" and proceeded to stop the car and turn around. I was so excited you swear I just saw Santa Claus!
We stopped at the spot where Jim saw it and it was a mom and her 2 babies. I don't know how he saw her since she was set back in the woods but we got out and tried to get a closer look.
She was leary of us since she had two calves but we were able to get pretty close...

It is pretty ironic that the town we saw her in was called Moose Pass!
We then kept driving and about an hour or so later Jim sees another moose. This time a bull in the middle of a wetland. We tried to get a closer look but it was too wet but Jim still got some pretty good pictures...

I was finally convinced that moose really do exist although I am still skeptical about bear!
There was so much to do in Alaska and a week was definitely not enough time to see everything.
I am looking forward to going again!
